Founded in 2003, the purpose of the Florissant Scientific Society is to share information on a broad range of Earth Science topics. Meetings are typically held on the third Sunday of each month.
The members take turns on hosting/leading each meeting, and the location of each meeting is determined by the host and the topic to be discussed. Therefore, we meet throughout the state of Colorado, and occasionally in surrounding states. Summer meetings are usually outside field trips, and Winter meetings are typically indoor presentations. Most meetings also include a potluck meal and social time.
We are an informal group. All are welcome, both professionals and non-professionals with an interest in science. There are no dues, and no official "membership". To join us simply submit your name and email, and you will be added to the notification list for all announcements of future meetings. [Your email will only be used for these official FSS communications - about once a month].
